As a skin cancer survivor, Cancer Survivor Speaker, and cancer support provider I totally believe in the body-mind-spirit interconnection, and I used it to heal myself of Stage 4 melanoma.
"You can heal from cancer. You do have control over your body, mind, and spirit. You always have hope because hope is 'your wish or desire'. Believe you can create what you want. Believe you can heal yourself. Your beliefs and thoughts have a huge affect on your healing from cancer. As you begin to understand how you create energetic imbalances, you gain insight into your innate ability to heal yourself and greater understanding that it is your responsibility to do so."
It is a tenet of some religions as well as alternative and complementary medicinal practices that the mind and the attitude can affect the body for good or for ill. This affecting can be so powerful that it can make us sick, or it can bring us healing, even healing from advanced stages of cancer.
One of the central tenets of the body-mind-spirit connection is that what we hold firmly and passionately in our minds in time becomes our reality. This can cut in more than one direction. If we constantly fill our minds with thoughts of lack, despair, pessimism, poverty, and sickness, even if we don't want these things and we are obsessing over them because we fear them so much, these are the very things that will, in time, manifest themselves in our lives. But if we are able to use the power of our minds to imagine ourselves wealthy, living out our dreams, and healthy, then things that correspond with those visions are exactly what will come to us in time.
Another aspect of the body-mind-spirit matrix of our reality is attitude. "Attitude" literally refers to dance posture; so a "bad attitude" means bad posture, and we know that bad posture eventually can lead to some severe physical ailments. It has been said that when you change your attitude, the whole universe changes. Does this mean you should adopt a "positive attitude" and take your cancer as a good thing? No, it certainly does not. Will a positive attitude heal you overnight? Probably not, but miracles do happen overnight. You'll still have a challenge on your hands. But what a positive attitude will do is put the power tools for healing in your figurative hands.
In order to heal and become a cancer survivor instead of a cancer victim, you need to FEEL and believe that you can heal. If you imagine healing without an attitude that lets you feel it can become real, then all you're doing is engaging in idle fantasy. Fantasy and the right attitude together are what can affect the body for healing change.
You need to harness the power of your creative mind. This power is a great natural cancer treatment. You can use your creative mind to move from sense into fantasy and from fantasy into the immersion in a powerful vision of your future--a future in which you are alive and well and cancer-free.
Many people don't do this right. They feel like they cannot be responsible for or help their lack or their sickness because, they will tell you, they are already thinking about all they want and all the health they desire but to no avail. But that's probably not what they are thinking of at all. They are thinking about NOT having all the things they wish they had. And they just see things as always getting worse--and as they see so they experience, and things get worse and then they can get sicker.
To harness your creative mind to bring you what you want, you have to see yourself in the state, not as you are now, but as you desire to be. You must imagine it to the point where you can FEEL how it's going to be to be rid of your cancer. When you are first imagining yourself cancer free and joyful, you are fantasizing. But as you hold the fantasy and begin to feel it, you move into your vision--the vision that can assist in your healing.
The vision by itself will not bring you healing from cancer. You still have to use alternative, complementary, and integrative medicines; and you still have to move through time and wrestle emotions like fear and grief. But this vision keeps you on fire to do the things you need to do. And, as you hold on to it, your spirit works above and behind the scenes to find the exact way to make that vision manifest. And one day you wake up to find you are no longer a cancer patient, but a cancer survivor.
